How to Connect your Instagram to your Squarespace website

Connecting your Instagram feed to your Squarespace website seems super simple, but it’s one of those things that seems to give people a little bit of trouble. Showing Instagram on your website is a great way to add a little more brand personality and help people get to know your company.

Today I’m going to walk you through how to connect your Instagram and how to troubleshoot it if it’s not working correctly.

1- Before you connect your Instagram to your Squarespace site, use your internet browser to go to and sign into your account. If you have multiple accounts you will need to make sure you are signed in to the one you want to show up on your website.

2 - Add the Instagram block to your page where you want it to show up. I love to see an Instagram feed in the footer of your website. I think it adds a nice touch and gives readers a low commitment way to keep in touch with you.

Add the Instagram Block

3- Use the dropdown box to select your Instagram profile. If you haven’t already connected an account yet, there will be a little pop up that asks you to give Squarespace permission to access your account. Alternately you can add your Instagram via the Connected Accounts tab before you add the Instagram block. Either way works just fine.

4- Use the number slider to adjust how many images you want to show up in the block.

5- Use the design tab to control the spacing between your images and how your grid shows up. There are a lot of options so you can really customize the way your Instagram feed looks on your website.

Use these options to change the design of the block

When you add your Instagram it will also show up in your Connected Account, so any place you have the Social Links Block you will also have the Instagram icon link.

Troubleshooting Your Instagram Feed on Squarespace.

Let’s address some of the most common problems people have asked me about. If you have a different problem, please comment below and I will try to help you fix it.

Your feed is showing your other Instagram feed, not the one you want to show up.

Use the connect accounts tab and the social links to change the way things are displayed

Go to the Settings tab > Connected Accounts. Disconnect the Instagram that is connected. Then open a new tab in your browser to open Instagram. Make sure you are logged into the account you want to be connected. Each Instagram profile has its own username and password. You have to make sure the correct one is logged in on your browser. Then try connecting your Squarespace again.

Your feed hasn’t updated in a couple of days or it’s showing grey boxes instead of your photos.

Sometimes the connection between the two breaks. To refresh your feed head over the Settings tab > Connected Accounts. Click on the Reset Date button. And it should be working now!

If not, you can disconnect the account and then reconnect using the directions above.

You can also rearrange the order your icons are display in the Social Links Tab.

Cool Things You Can Do With The Instagram Block on Squarespace

You can have multiple Instagram accounts connected to one Squarespace site. If you have a secondary brand that you want to highlight you can just connect another account using the directions above or in the Connected Accounts tab.

You can also style your Instagram blocks differently in different places. For example, you could have one long row in your footer, but then have a 2x2 grid in your sidebar.
